NOTE: The Meusebach–Comanche Treaty of 1847, signed in Fredericksburg, Texas, is widely cited as the only peace treaty made between Native Americans and white settlers that was never broken. The United States Government played no role in this treaty, except to later recognize it; it was made between the Comanche and the privately-owned German Emigration Company of Fredericksburg.
